BIO: Prior to joining Kuder, Smollar & Friedman, Ms.
Peterson was a 2000-02 Women's Law and Public Policy Fellow at the
Georgetown University Law Center's Domestic Violence Clinic, where
she litigated civil protection order (CPO) cases on behalf of survivors
of domestic violence, advised and supervised law students on CPO
cases, and co-taught weekly seminar classes. Ms. Peterson received
the 2001 Frederick B. Abramson Public Interest Fellowship Award
for her commitment to the use of law for the advancement of the
community and public interest. After her Fellowship, Ms. Peterson
litigated plaintiff-side employment discrimination cases for The
Goldsmith Law Firm in numerous jurisdictions, including the U.S.
District Court for the District of Columbia and the Maryland Court
of Appeals. From 2003-04, Ms. Peterson clerked for the Honorable
Judith Bartnoff of the D.C. Superior Court. During that time, Judge
Bartnoff was assigned to the Domestic Relations I Calendar, where
she handled the complex family law cases. At the end of Ms. Peterson's
clerkship in September 2004, she joined Kuder, Smollar and Friedman,
where she has continued to work on cases involving divorce, child
custody, child support, and other issues related to family law.
Ms. Peterson has also served as a guardian ad litem in matters before
the D.C. Superior Court.
